Beijing’s Glowing Hands

4 Jan

Former U.S. Air Force Secretary Thomas Reed knows about making nuclear bombs. Reed also knows what others have corroborated about Beijing’s assistance to Pakistan, leading to one track of the Pakistani Pipeline. Yet, his proof for Beijing’s assistance to Pyongyang is sketchy and mostly speculative.

Gordon G. Chang argues that “By refusing to oppose those who wish us harm, we are creating the conditions for our own destruction.” I would argue that the Bus administration has striven to oppose Beijing’s proliferation with its own encouragement of nuclear-power states, like India, not tripping over Pakistan, keeping Taiwan on low boil, and seeking to seal DPRK in the Six-Party process. In short, the US has done everything short of confrontation to ensure it can surround Beijing. What Reed is describing is a breakout.
