Greens Capture Fourth Place

7 Nov

What an upset! Maybe not. The Green party candidate for president, Jill Stein, placed fourth in Florida. Mine was one of the 223 votes in Seminole County. Now, I can spend the next four years criticizing President Barack H. Obama.

Yes, there are actually people who aren’t in the two main parties who have their own ideas about fixing this country, who had the courage to run for president. Number 3, behind Obama and Romney, was Gary Johnson, a Libertarian who had 348,000 votes by 9:47 p.m. Not bad for raising only $1 million bucks.

Johnson backs abolishing the IRS, legalizing marijuana and creating alternate currencies. He’s a triathlete who has climbed Mt. Everest, and he started his own multimillion dollar construction company

Jill Stein, a Green Party candidate who backs job creation through environmental initiatives, was running fourth with 98,000 votes.

On the practical side of the stats, as I read this, the Senate is hanging onto a Democratic majority by one seat. In the House, the Dems are up three seats, but still need six, to equal their current delegation. In Florida, three state constitutional amendments, on the ACA, abortion funding, and religious school funding, have failed. And, of course, as expected, the nuisance state is tardy with its vote tallies.Next report on that in a week? Good news for Representative Paul Ryan – Wisconsin for Obama! Finally, President Obama failed to pick up Illinois and North Carolina where he won in 2008. But who cares, the United State of Ohio voted for him!

Speaker of the House, John Boehner sounded conciliatory. If only it were 2008!

Business Insider has this refreshingly brief video of “How Barack Obama Got To 270 Electoral Votes“. I can’t seem to get the video to embed.
