It all makes sense now – follow the seven rhymes! That’s certainly easier than trying to figure out what the black goo is, or if religion or science undergirds the plot. I guess it could have something to do with gnosticism, but that would just be like opening up the storyline to any interpretation.

I agree with the decision not to include this very important plot sequence in the final prequel – not knowing trumps knowing. It’s so much more mysterious to make us wait for the sequels and the television series, rather than compel viewers to think for themselves. Do I hear Anakin Skywalker berating George Lucas for stealing his mojo by turning him into the universe’s greatest dupe?
