No Dignity for Working Mothers

16 Apr

It’s not that the tax code is oppressive; it’s that it incentivizes and discourages based on who can lobby in their interests.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Worse, policy changes, like TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) has created distorting effects, such as discouraging womn to work outside of the home, mental and emotional distress, and degrading children’s educational performances. It’s too simplistic to say, that all taxes, transfer payments, and in-kind services are punitive and destructive, when food stamps is one program that has helped during this recession. It’s more accurate to say, that the tax code reflects the collective will of a country where not every taxpayer wants his/her taxes actually to benefit others.
